Public Education
For decades, DCC has supported the Dallas Independent School District as a major funder and steward of bond elections and building programs and a supporter of major efforts to reform our schools. Most recently, DCC backed the “Our Students, Our Future” campaign that will bring $1.35 billion in bond funds to the district, enabling renovation and new construction for dozens of schools.
Ron Steinhart and several other Citizens Council members are assisting the district through Dr. Michael Hinojosa’s Kitchen Cabinet, a committee that offers corporate and governance expertise that has helped Dallas ISD recover from a series of spending shortfalls. The Citizens Council continues to support DISD as it makes progress on its goal to become the best urban public school district in the nation.
