CURRENT ISSUES
The Dallas Citizens Council has always supported public health care, believing it to be a key component to a healthy, thriving community. In the 1950s, the Citizens Council supported relocating Dallas County’s safety net hospital, Parkland, to its current location. While the Dallas population has grown exponentially since then, and the hospital has increased its services and patient volume, the 1954 building has severe space and technology limitations. The needs of our community continue to expand, and so does the need for quality health care. This year, the Citizens Council plans to support Parkland as it begins its campaign for a much-needed new facility to better deliver excellent health care in Dallas.
