Transportation

Citizens Council point persons for transportation Walt Humann and Jere Thompson, Jr., are long-time leaders in key issues that have great consequences for the north Texas region. Mr. Humann has been a champion of area-wide public transit for decades and continues to fight for a transit sales tax exemption that would enable our area to commit a full one percent to transit region-wide. Mr. Thompson, a former chair of the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA), was instrumental in the fight to allow NTTA to compete to construct and operate State Highway 121, ensuring that billions of dollars in future toll revenue be redeployed in the north Texas region.

The DCC firmly believes that taxes generated from gasoline should fund transportation, and supports upcoming legislative efforts to index the gas tax.

The Dallas Citizens Council has always supported public health care, believing it to be a key component to a healthy, thriving community. more»
